This is really handy for that kind of stuff: I write 90% of the time in English, but sometimes I want to use these symbols, like the degree symbol. Whenever I want to type in Spanish, I just press Alt + Shift again.
Whenever I want to type in English, I just press Left Alt + Left Shift and I switch the input language into English (you can switch it between as many languages as you want as long as you have selected then before in settings). I'm Spanish, but I bought an English keyboard and I face these problems all the time.
